The Town of Bassendean is updating its Municipal Heritage Inventory

Posted on: Monday, 20 February 2017 at 7:35:33 AM

The Town is seeking public comment on the draft document before presenting it to Council for final adoption.

The Municipal Heritage Inventory (MHI) is a list of places considered important to the Bassendean community, as they are tangible expressions of our history and identity. The MHI is generally an information only resource and inclusion has no implications for the development of a property over and above the requirements within the Town’s Local Planning Scheme No. 10. The MHI seeks to ease the process for preparing, advertising and adopting a ‘Heritage List’, subject to a separate review in the near future. Owners of proposed properties will be individually written to and asked to provide comment on the proposed listing and the level of significance assigned to their property. The general public is also invited to make comment on the draft document.

For detailed information on the Municipal Heritage Inventory review and what it means for property owners please consult the following factsheet here.

A copy of the draft MHI is available to be viewed here.

The Thematic History and Matrix is available to be viewed here.

Alternatively, hard copies are available for viewing at the Town of Bassendean Customer Service Centre at 35 Old Perth Road, Bassendean, and at the Bassendean Memorial Library at 46 Old Perth Road, Bassendean.
