All you need is an email account and a password to ‘My Account’.
To set up:
1. Login to ‘My Account’.
2. Click on Top 4 Button.

You will receive weekly or monthly Email Report notification when new items in your four favourite interest areas arrive in the Library.
You can then log in to ’My Account’ to view the list and reserve any items you would like.
The Bassendean railway station turned 100 years old on the 30th April, 2010. A display of the history of the station is in the Library until the end of May.

Renata, Patrizia and Vivianne at Bassendean Shopping Village, April 12 - 16, 2010. Renata was promoting the Better Beginnings Family Literacy program at the Bassendean Library. The display generated a lot of interest with many Better Beginnings bags taken by the village customers. The bags are available from the Library for families with newborn babies.
The Library hosted the first “Our Page in History”(OPIH) computer booth. The OPIH booth contains a computer, an internet connection and a scanner. The booth and its equipment provides an opportunity for individuals, organisations, schools, community groups and families to record their memories online, to store photos online, and scan and store documents.

The Library is holding an introduction and training day for anyone interested in aspects of the OPIH. Melissa Tenser will be available at the booth from 10:30am until 3.00pm on Wednesday 14th April. Tea, coffee. scones, jam and cream will be provided during the day. Make a note and drop in!

Unusual objects, strange items, rare things, collectables, special interests, hobbies . . .
Would you like to show your favourite things to the world? Anything, from Abba collectables to hand-knitted zoo animals, can be displayed in our secure cabinet. (Maximum size 40cm high x 30cm wide)
Past displays have included Anzac memorabilia, glass jewellery, parchment craft and special effects “body parts”.

From 1 March 2011 the loan period has been extended to three weeks and the number of items that can be borrowed has increased to 15.

This exciting program, developed and coordinated by State Library of WA in conjunction with the local councils and sponsored by Rio Tinto, promotes to all parents the importance of reading, rhyming and talking to your baby. The program tries to reach every family with a new baby in our community by delivering a specially designed Parent Toolkit containing a quality children’s board book and materials to stimulate reading activities and promote importance of early literacy to new parents. Parent Toolkits are distributed by the local Infant Child Care Centre and are also available at the library. You can drop off your unwanted mobile phone, empty printer cartridges and old dry cell batteries at the library for environmentally friendly disposal.
