Dandjoo Koorliny Reconciliation Gathering

The Town of Bassendean will be holding its third Dandjoo Koorliny Reconciliation Gathering at Mary Crescent Reserve, Eden Hill from 10am to 1pm on Thursday 25 May 2017.

As part of National Reconciliation Week, whose 2017 theme is "Lets Take the Next Steps", the event is focused on celebrating and showcasing Nyoongar and Indigenous culture and people in the Town of Bassendean to the wider community.

The event will feature dance, songs and storytelling from Nyoongar performers, local schools and local community members.  A dance performacne with opportunities for audience participation, will be put on by Maar Koodjal Aboriginal Dance Group.  There will also be art and cultural activities.

A formal part of the ceremony will be the planting of a tree to commemorate the Sorry Day Address delivered by the then Prim Minister, Kevin Rudd.

It is a free community event and all Bassendean residents are encouraged to attend and enjoy the activities and atmosphere.
