Asset Services Information Sheet – Street Sweeping
Introduction
Other than the main township, which is swept on a weekly basis, all streets within the Town of Bassendean are swept four times per year.
Sweeping Program
A complete sweep of the streets within the Town is programmed as follows:
- February/March – General Sweep
- May/June – Sweep following Green Waste Collection
- August/September – General Sweep
- November/December – Sweep following Household Waste Collection
Requests for Additional Sweeping
Residents are reminded that the Town’s resources are limited and are asked to keep requests for additional street sweeping to a minimum. Requests for additional street sweeping should be limited to the following:
- Foreign matter on the road represents an unacceptable hazard to users (eg. broken glass, excessive sand or dirt).
- Excessive rubbish on the road is interfering with, or is likely to interfere with the flow of storm water.
Council officers will assess each of these requests and determine whether or not the additional sweep is warranted. The Town will not carry out additional street sweeping simply because of leaf litter.
Contact Details
Requests for additional street sweeping, or queries on the sweeping program should be directed to the Engineering Works Supervisor, at the Council Depot on 9377 9000.
