Keeping watch
CCTV coming soon to your street! The Town will take possession of its latest crime prevention tool this month: a trailer mounted CCTV unit.
Partly funding by the State Government, the purpose-built unit will soon be a feature in and around the Town.
Mayor Gangell said the trailer will be multi-functional in that it will assist with capturing all sorts of information and not just be confined to crime deterrence. The unit will, for instance, assist with planning by the Town by gathering information on traffic and pedestrian flow and such uses.
“But it will also assist with recording hooning behaviours and antisocial activity in public places that will be provided to the Police for follow-up action,” said Mayor Gangell.
“This is another initiative of your Council in support of the community’s expressed wishes and will enhance the sense of safety within our Town,” he added.
