
One new councillor elected to Council
Following the recent Local Government elections, the Town of Bassendean welcomed one new Councillor—Cr Jennie Carter.
Cr Carter, along with Cr John Gangell, Cr Anne Brinkworth, Cr Gerry Pule, Cr Kara Collins and Cr Mike Lewis, who were all returned at the election, were sworn in at a special meeting of the Council on 18 October.
At the same meeting, Cr John Gangell was elected Mayor and Cr Gerry Pule was elected Deputy Mayor for a two-year period.
Mayor Gangell said, ‘I would like to thank the public for their support at the election and I am honoured to have been elected Mayor for a second term’.
Councillors Lynda Butler, Heinrich Benz and Don Yates were not returned at the election. The Mayor expressed his appreciation for their commitment to the community during their term of office.
