The Great Food Gardens Team is coming to Bassendean
Green thumbs, avid gardeners and even those having difficulty keeping their plants alive can benefit from a free workshop being held at the Cyril Jackson Recreation Centre, on Friday 2nd October between 11.00 am and 2.00 pm by the Great Food Gardens team.
The popular workshops, headed by Garry Heady and Peter Coppin, show people how to grow delicious and highly nutritious fruit and vegetables at home despite often harsh soils and climate. They also focus on ways to make your food garden more attractive, manageable and sustainable.
Garry said people could have a water-wise and nutrient-wise food garden without sacrificing the beauty of their property. The key is to realise that Western Australian growing conditions are different so many of the traditional techniques need to be modified. This fun and informative workshop will dispel popular gardening misconceptions and myths.
‘Over the 6 years that we have been running Great Gardens workshops we have helped more than 35,000 people throughout WA to discover the simple joy of creating a beautiful garden that is not only sustainable but inexpensive,’ he added.
Workshop places are limited, so it is very important to register. The workshop features prizes and give-aways and light refreshments will be provided.
