Council adopts Visionary Plan for Ashfield
At its meeting held on 13th October 2009 the Town of Bassendean adopted the Ashfield Precinct Plan which will be used as a visionary document to guide further planning and decision making for Ashfield.
The Plan contains a number of proposals, some which can be implemented by the Town in the next 5 years, while some of the proposals will need the support of the State Government agencies and will have a longer time frame. While Council supported the plan it expressed the view that it should not undermine the Bassendean Town Centre as the primary retail and service centre for the Town, it also expressed concern that the proposals for Pearson Street may act as a disincentive to the development of the Colstoun Road Village, and questioned the benefits of moving the Ashfield Train Station.
