Community Development's mission is to work with our community to enhance our Town through recreation, culture, youth and volunteer services.

Community Development provides service in four principal areas, as follows:

Sport and Recreation

Community access to the Town's ovals, reserves and facilities; Club Development Program (Clubs Connect Program); Master Planning Projects; Leisure Courses; Physical Activity Promotion, including walking/cycling programs; Management of the Town's Lease, Licence and Management Agreements; Play structures development; Sports Achievement Awards; Cyril Jackson Physical Education & Community Recreation Centre Management Committee facilitation; Town of Bassendean representation on a regional recreation committee (i.e. North Metropolitan Region Recreation Committee); Town of Bassendean representation on the Premier's Physical Activity Taskforce; Seniors Week Committee facilitation.

Arts and Culture

Cultural Planning; Public Events; Cultural activities and projects; Public Art Collection curation; Community Events Sponsorship Program; Cultural Development Advisory Committee facilitation; and Town of Bassendean representation on a regional cultural committee (ie, Cultural Development Forum).
