Office of the Chief Executive Officer
Bob Jarvis – Chief Executive Officer
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the only position that Council directly employs in the organisation. The CEO employs all other staff. It is the responsibility of the CEO to review operational day-to-day performance and also facilitate and liaise with Council on its strategic direction for the municipality. This role involves Councillors in high level political discussions in both the Federal and State arena and other local governments and government agencies.
As the CEO is the principal officer reporting to Council, it is the CEO’s responsibility to ensure advice given, particularly legal advice, is as relevant and prudent as possible. The CEO also provides advice to Councillors in their day-to-day dealings with residents and ratepayers. The CEO’s office often acts as a conduit to resolve difficult issues that are raised by ratepayers with Councillors in their representative capacity.
The Development Services Business Unit reports directly to the CEO.
