Environmental Services
The Town is actively involved in projects that reduce carbon emissions, energy and water consumption that result from its own actions and those within the wider community. Environmental Services also assists with many of the issues surrounding the management of contaminated sites and coordinates the monitoring of drainage water quality.
The protection and rehabilitation of the Town’s remaining bushland areas is very important to the Council and Environmental Services assist in co-ordinating and implementing the:
- Town’s Operational plan for Natural Areas;
- Town’s Environmental Plan; and
- Collective Local Biodiversity Strategy.
An aspect of protecting the Town’s bushland is encouraging the community to ‘plant local’ – and this is achieved through public education and through the annual ‘plants to residents’ scheme which provides subsidised plants to residents every year towards the start of the winter rains.
An Environmental Officer is available to provide advice on public and environmental matters.
