Michael Costarella
Director Corporate Services
Mr Costarella was initially employed to the position as the Acting Director of Corporate Services in May 2007to effectively prepare and present the 2007/08 Annual Budget and complete the 2006/07 Annual Financial Statements. In October 2007, Mr Costarella was offered and accepted the full time position as the Director of Corporate Services
Mr Costarella commenced employment in the commercial sector in 1978 and with Local Government in 1985. In 2006 Mr Costarella became involved in a retail outlet and is currently a partner in the business. Mr Costarella has held a number of senior managerial positions in both metropolitan and country councils. This includes, East Pilbara, Exmouth, Geraldton, Cottesloe and East Fremantle.
Mr Costarella brings a diverse range of experience to the position with a background in financial and corporate management. He has also been involved in a number of community based committees in regional areas and assisted in emergency services including fire brigades cyclone and floods.
Mr Costarella attained accounting qualifications in the early part of his working life and has continued his professional development through on the job training courses.
Mr Costarella is also an executive member of the Western Australian Local Government Finance Professionals and an active member of the Local Government Managers Association.
