ASSESSMENT OF THE COLLECTION

Assessment of Local Studies Collection using the Australian Historical Themes Framework is continuing. The reference collection, main collection and oral history collection, ephemera and fragile ephemera collections and serials have been assessed. The photographic collection is currently being assessed. Newspapers will be microfilmed according to the Collection Management Plan.

The ephemera collection is being expanded with the strategic acquisition of articles from the National Library of Australia and the State Library of Australia. The Reference and Main Collection is being updated with the addition of relevant books. Assessment of the value of materials within the collection is being noted with the aim of copying unique items for Disaster Recovery Planning- for example- original transcripts of the early oral history collection.

ORAL HISTORY

The oral history process has been formalized, to take on recommendations in the Oral History Association’s Handbook (5th ed). This will clarify expectations of all parties involved. Progress is being made on the interview with Mr Arthur Leggett and the acquisition of Don’t Cry for Me: An Autobiography.
