That the report on Land Tax Assessment Act, 2002 be received.
9.5 Audits- Bus Stop Infrastructure
WALGA e-news dated 29 September 2008 has advised the following:
WALGA would like to advise Local Governments not to undertake audits of bus stop infrastructure. The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is in the process of reviewing its bus stop layout design against which to audit and establishing auditing systems.
PTA has acknowledged its obligations for infrastructure in relation to ensuring stops comply with the Commonwealth Disability Standards such as the bus stop pad, tactile pavers and bus stop pole.
WALGA is in the process of negotiating a partnership agreement with the PTA that will include clarification regarding infrastructure ownership and responsibility between State and Local Government. At this time, audits of bus stops would be premature.
